Biography

This is Ms. Angela Pope's 14th year as an educator. Before coming to Mount Hebron, Ms Pope was the choir director, general music instructor, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coach at Thomas Viaduct Middle School, as well as the middle school vocal/general music representative for both the Howard County Music Leadership team and the MD/DC chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree with a vocal concentration from the University of Delaware in 2011 and completed her Master’s degree in Music Education with a Kodály certification from Loyola University, Maryland in 2016.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pope has continually led professional development across the tri-state area, as well as  serve as a guest conductor, festival coordinator, honors choir director, all-state audition judge, and choral festival adjudicator for elementary, middle, and high school ensembles. She has also worked as a part time musicianship instructor at the Children's Chorus of Maryland & School of Music. It is Ms. Pope’s mission to inspire students to not only become skilled musicians, but to also become compassionate, confident, and empathetic individuals. In 2022 she was awarded runner up for the 2022 Howard County Parents for School Music “Music Teacher of the Year” award and in 2014 she was nominated for a Howie Award for Outstanding Howard County Arts Educator.

Along with teaching, Ms. Pope sings in a professional vocal ensemble called Elevation which performs in the MD/PA/DE region. When she is not working she loves spending time outside, reading a good book, napping at the beach, cooking, a good movie or Netflix marathon, enjoying Korean BBQ or Hot Pot with friends, being a plant mom, and being "The Fun Aunt" for her incredible nieces and nephew.
