Tri-M Music Honor Society, formerly known as Modern Music Masters, is a high school music honor society and is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).  It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements and to provide leadership and service opportunities to young musicians.

2020-2021 MEETINGS
Tri-M Music Honor Society members are requires to attend all meetings throughout the school year to ensure they are informed and active members of our chapter. We will meet via Google Meet on Mondays of every month from 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM unless otherwise stated below.

Monday, December 14th - OFFICER ELECTIONS
Monday, January 11th
Tuesday, February 16th 
Monday, March 15th

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Tri-M Music Honor Society members are selected for their exceptional musicianship, leadership, service, and character.  In order to be considered for induction, the following criteria must be met in full:

Music Participation
  • Candidates must be enrolled in at least one credit of a performing ensemble or music class during the current school year to be considered.
​​Academic Achievement
  • Candidates must have a 3.5 GPA in all music classes and a 3.0 overall GPA to be considered.
Leadership
  • Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Participation in a HCPSS GT/Honors Ensemble
    • Audition for an All State Ensemble
    • Perform at the HCPSS Solo & Ensemble Festival
    • Study with a Private Instructor
    • Participate in an extra-curricular ensemble
    • Be a member of the Band Leadership Team
Service
  • Candidates must volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours throughout the school year, according to the following guidelines:
    • ​Service hours must be recorded monthly
    • Service hours must be music related
    • Service hours must be separate from those used to fulfill requirements for other honors/service organizations
Character
  • Candidates must show evidence of the following criteria:
    • Attendance at all performances
    • Shows enthusiasm for music and learning
    • Exemplifies good citizenship
    • Follows all school and music rules, policies, and procedures
    • Shows respect and care for others
    • Demonstrates patience, responsibility, trustworthiness, honesty, reliability, and punctuality
​Attendance
  • Candidates must attend a monthly meeting.  We will meet on the second Monday of each month from 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM.  Attendance is required of all members.  Students that cannot commit to these meetings should not apply.
​Dues
  • Chapter dues are $10 per member per year and are to be paid along with your Contract.  New Members will be provided with a Contract upon selection and induction.
HOW TO APPLY (New Members):
  1. Fill out the Application (New Members) and return to Mr. Dogas no later than Monday, November 23, 2020.​
  2. Students will be notified of their selection status no later than Friday, December 4, 2020.  Contracts will be provided at that time.  Students the fill out the Contract and return (along with your $10 dues) to Mr. Dogas no later than Monday, December 14, 2020.

HOW TO REGISTER (Returning Members):
  1. Fill out the Contract (Returning Members) and return (along with your $10 dues) to Mr. Dogas no later than Monday, November 23, 2020.

OFFICE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
PRESIDENT
  • Presides over meetings of the Chapter
  • Prepares an agenda for the meetings
  • Representative and spokesperson of the Chapter, on and off campus
  • Facilitates formation of chapter goals
  • Completes an annual Chapter Summary Report
  • Provides motivation and encouragement to fellow officers and members
VICE PRESIDENT
  • Publicizes meeting and chapter activities
  • Schedules guest speakers with assistance from other chapter officers
  • Educates new members on the history of Tri-M®
  • Helps organize the induction ceremony
  • Secondary representative of the Chapter, on and off campus
SECRETARY
  • Records the chapter minutes
  • Handles correspondence for the chapter, including thank you letters and interactions with other Tri-M chapters
  • Reports chapter activities for the Chapter Summary Report
TREASURER
  • Maintains membership records
  • Prepares a chapter roster
  • Maintains the chapter’s financial records
