Welcome

The MtH Choir Program is a diverse, welcoming community that is rigorous, rewarding, and, above all, fun. Each and every day, students explore the world around them through the lens of choral singing. In daily rehearsals, our talented and hardworking young people learn the foundations of proper vocal technique while singing fantastic music from many times and many places. Along the way, students identify unique characteristics that make each piece of music so special. These characteristics speak to the culture and time from which the music originated, and analyzing this helps students to be more thoughtful and appreciative of the beauty that surrounds them in their daily lives.

Students enrolled in the choral program at Mount Hebron also spend time getting to know and celebrate each other. In no time at all, your choral colleagues are bound to become some of your very best friends.
At the end of the day, choral singing is all about human connection and leaning on others to create an end product that represents our collective spirit. The MtH Choirs are comprised of students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade who elect to participate in choir. Similar to other academic courses, the choirs meet daily during the 50-minute class period and/or the 90 minute block period on A/B days.

For more information, email Ms. Pope at [email protected]. It is never too late to join our musical family!

Mt. Hebron Choir Traditions

Mt. Hebron HS Viking SingFest!
Mt. Hebron hosts an annual choir festival and invites choir students from feeder schools to experience vocal performance at the high school level. This has become a beloved tradition.

Caroling in Old Ellicott City - Midnight Madness
Each year, MHHS students lift their voices in song to help kick off the holiday season in Old Ellicott City. This annual tradition has become a favorite for the MHHS community, and students love meeting important local figures like the county executive.

Choir Potluck
After concerts, we like to celebrate and enjoy time together by sharing a meal. We host a potluck breakfast/lunch after Winter Concert and after the Spring Concert.

Sing Your Style Unit/Lip Sync Battles/Music Videos
During the school year we spend a lot of time on teacher selected repertoire, but we also make time for students to sing and act out music of their choice. It's a great way to for students to showcase their other performing skills and musical preferences!
